Character Spotlight: Ronie Kendig’s Thiel and Haegen

This October, I ventured into uncharted territory for me — the world of fantasy. I love Ronie Kendig’s writing and devour her military suspense novels, so I knew I was in good hands. The journey has been unique, exciting, and stretching to say the least. I am thrilled to share with you a sneak peek of two of the lovable and courageous characters that help bring Embers to life.

Brief physical description: About 5’7”, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Age: Early 17.

Resembles: Maybe Nina Dobrev, with short/choppy hair.

If you had to describe Thiel in one word, what would it be? Determined.

Strengths and weaknesses: Thiel is a leader and knows how to take charge. But she can be very bullheaded once she gets a thought in her head. She takes a while to form convictions, but when they’re set, she doesn’t let go of them easily.

Anything else readers should know? Thiel would—and has—made tremendous sacrifices for those she loves, if she believes it’s for the better. She has a warrior’s heart, which her brothers have whipped into shape.

Brief physical description: 5’11”

Age: 17 going on 18.

Resembles: Tom Hopper.

If you had to describe Haegan in one word, what would it be? Loyal.

Strengths and weaknesses: Haegan’s strength is his weakness—since he’s spent most of his life with an aged tutor/guardian hidden from sight, he is a very internal thinker. And he doesn’t like attention. Coupled with that tragic situation, Haegan has learned to analyze and assess things and people very quickly. He has depended on the Histories to guide his understanding of the world around his castle…and now, he experiences it all—and unlearns much, as well.

Anything else readers should know? Haegan has been crippled since he was a young boy, when he was poisoned.
