The inhabitants of Seagrove Village are reeling from shock and fear after a terrorist attack at what should have been a joyous event. To add to Beth’s worry, Sara is acting strangely. They’ve been best friends for years, but their relationship has been strained ever since the latter’s recent marriage. Beth doesn’t trust the man. Everyone knows that. When he goes missing, she becomes a suspect.
To prove her own innocence and help Sara, Beth is determined to find Robert. The task however proves increasingly difficult as her best friend is lying to her face and clearly hiding something. Joining Beth in this quest is the handsome, former special ops, Joe. Despite her head warning her to stay away from the man, Beth’s heart refuses to jump on board.
Plunging her readers into the middle of the action from the beginning, Vicki Hinze delivers an electrifying plot in Not This Time. I hadn’t read the first two books in the Crossroads Crisis Center and consequently found the beginning a bit confusing because there were so many characters to meet. However, that didn’t stop me from quickly becoming totally engrossed in the novel. The characters are so captivating it made me wish all the more that I’d read Forget Me Not and Deadly Ties first.
Hinze has definitely secured herself a spot on my “be-on-the-lookout-for-more-of-her-books” list. I strongly recommend Not This Time to readers searching for exhilarating suspense without sacrificing a clean plot.
